Overheating oddities
nub replied to havoc's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYea admittedly, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me either. The car definitely got really hot without blocking it off though, enough to boil the radiator and send it out the expansion tank and the overflow. It was only because I keep an occasional eye on the gauge that saved it from cooking. I only mention it because its easy enough to check, and I know the problem confused the hell outta me until I did it. Maybe it being blocked traps a big air bubble in there also? I do remember hearing water sloshing around when turning (indicating air in there) despite 'burping' it several times. To be honest I hope it isnt that, because taking out the heater core was a real pain in the a$$.

Overheating oddities
nub replied to havoc's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHi, 'scuse the lurker post - I've been reading these forums for ages but never really posted as I've found all I need in the search Anyway, can't help noticing your issue sounds similar to my old 92 Legacy 2.2. That would also overheat occasionally, like when overtaking and climbing up hill. Only when it had to work though, I could drive around town all day with no problem. In the end it turned out to be the heater core. Finally manged to diagnose it by locating the pipes from the engine to the heater core, disconnecting them, and hooking up a hose in a u shape between the engine outlet to the heater core and the return. Drove it like this for a week and the issue went away. Eventually pulled the heater core out (what a pain!) and it was 50% blocked. Can you do the same on the 2.5 easily? That would be a fairly easy way to rule out your heater core I think. Cheers, nub

Legacy Model Types?
Hi all, from NZ Is there any list anywhere of the different model types of Legacy? I'm thinking of the 90's era ones mostly but anything would be welcome. Being in NZ this means jap imports.. I'm not sure the US models are the same or not? For example I have a '92 Legacy Brighton and a '96 Legacy TS-R but Ive also seen other models, like the GT, Ti etc. Trying to work out what exactly are the differences between my model and others of the same period. Guess GT is turbo.. TS-R.. dunno, it has factory momo steering wheel w/airbag so maybe thats all..? Hope this question makes sense! Thanks Oh, and I dont suppose theres a downloadable copy of a '92 owners manual anywhere..? (being unable to read japanese and all...)

New Air Filter for a 91 Legacy GT (advice needed please)
nub replied to Faithbleed's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHi All, just thought I'd jump in here seeing as the kiwi's are taking over in this forum Faithbleed, I have a 92 Legacy wagon (AT, non turbo) that I have had a K&N in for years and never had any problems. Sorry I dont have a part number but I cant get one if you want. I dont know that it provides much difference, but then I'm not much of a racer! Been using 91 octane in it for awhile too and that goes ok, although its peppier with 95 octane, which I used for recent rip to wellington. Turbo's might be a bit fussier? Cheers
