  1. Just wondering if its possible . I tried but could not get it to work. Even welded two throwout bearings together with no luck. Is there some sort of way to get this to work. I had a ford 2.3 and installed a escort flywheel then used a throwout bearing from a 72 chevy pickup with success .
  2. Before I spend the bucks for my engine I thought I would post and get some advise to see if theres a better set up out there. I ran this for two races last year(hopefully picture loads) . Circle track car . It has to be a 2.2 . Homemade intake with 500 holley , escort distributor. Ran great for having 222,000 miles . Its time to build some HP. I would like to twist this to 8500 if need be. I called wiesco and they can make me some flat tops for 150-200.00 each which should get me close to 12:1 . I was going to purchase some rods , either Manley or Eagle I beams . Anything I should watch out for? Maybe a different brand? less cost? Your input would be greatly appriciated before I go spend a chunk of change . Picture didnt load (too big of file) and I dont know how to change it
  3. So... just weld the spider gears like you would in a normal rear axle? Thanks appreciate all the replys. I tried to download a picture of my project but it said the file was too large.
  4. This will be a circle track asphalt car
  5. Sorry been out of town . The trans I have is a MT from a 96 legacy AWD .
  6. I have been planning this build for awhile but this just occured to me . I am just using the rear drive of a awd trans and was going to leave the fwd axles just free spinning . Would this cause excessive slippage (power to the drive wheels ) ? Or an this trans is it going direct to the rear drive ?
  7. Maybe I will just use a distributor . Was hoping to use the DIS for more spark. From what I have seen the dist from a 82 escort is used. Has anyone tried a later one like 88 with the TFI modual ?
  8. I searched and found people putting distributors in the ej22s but is is possible to run just the cam censer , ignition modual , and the coil ? Gms is a easy set up to do this but I cant get the cam censer to work on the sub. So far I have disconnected the blue wire at the igniter and it goes to base timing but will not run with anything else disconnected . I have searched for wiring diagrams but they are not very detailed . This is going into a race car that will be carbureted so I will not be using the fuel injection . Its from a 1993 . There has got to be a way I just havent found it yet . Can someone point me to a schematic or a website ? I searched plane conversions and didnt find anything there either . Thanks
  9. Tomorrow sat the 18th there is a auction. Hopfully I can get a responce quick . There is a 1996 impreza That I should be able to pick up cheep. The engine I am using is from a 1993 . When I look up a interchange for a trans it shows the 1996 all by itself . Will the trans bolt up to a 1993 engine ? Both are 2.2l
  10. Sheet metal intake with a 4412 .
  11. Thanks for the replys. I have to weigh 1 lb per cc so 2.5 is out and would like ideally to be around 2200 lbs . I have done some research and found some nice h beam rods . I am having trouble finding a cam . Went with a 2.2 from a 93 legacy 2 port exhaust . I will try Delta cams and see what they say . This will be seeing around 8000 rpm .
  12. Hello , new here hopefully I am posting this on the right board . I have in the plans to run a subaru powered race car in 2017 . Everyone else has been running the ford 2.3 and the new thing is the honda 2000 . I myself seem to believe the 2.2 can be competive but I havent ran acrost too many upgrades to these engines. I did find a aftermarket ballancer but that was about it . Is there a place that has aftermarket rods , cams ect ... ? Also any tricks ect to beef these up? Thanks in advance
