  1. order your parts online through your local dealership. get instore pick up so you dont have to pay for shipping. a lot of the time the dealer part will be maybe 2 dollars more than the oem. but at least you know its the exact fit for your car. maybe swap out the fuse. check and see if too much voltage is being supplied to the fuel pump. is there a short?
  2. So the wiring harness to the o2 sensor wasn't seated properly, hence the code. The rough idle was coming from an air leak right where the intake manifold meets with the cylinder head. I found it by spraying carb cleaner around until I found the leak. I was careful to spray little amounts while the engine was cold to prevent a fire from starting. After replacing the intake/exhaust gaskets, she is running great and up for sale finally!! :D
  3. Did you take your fuel lines going to the intake manifold off? Check and make sure you put them back in the correct order. I didn't put them back in the right order and flooded my intake/exhaust/engine with gas. once i finally realized what I did and fixed it. she started no problem. The cat converter is clogged a little now. nothing that cant be cleaned though.
  4. hey folks. I replaced both my spark plugs and wire about 5 months ago. I just recently checked the gaps on them and reinstalled them. The spark plugs are tight along with the wires. however every so often, when I am in 5th gear and going up slight inclines, my check engine light will start flashing at me. When i get the code read it brings up a misfire in cylinder 3. It doesn't feel like its misfiring though. It only flashes in 5th gear when going up inclines. Is this a fuel injector issue? the CEL eventually goes away after a day or so. Has anyone else had this issue? Am I losing compression in that cylinder?
  5. check your spark plug wires. I had a car that was doing the same thing. when i went in to do the head gaskets the spark plug wires were shredded. also check the compression on the engine. and fuel pressure
  6. p0141. there is a bit of a humming sound coming from the the MAF sensor area. I tested both of the o2 sensors and connectors with a multimeter. They both produce voltage when heated up. I did spray some MAF cleaner in the sensor. Must be air leaking that I might be hearing.
  7. My guess would be head gaskets. Trying squeezing the bottom radiator hose when the engine is hot to feel for the thermostat. If its open you it will be fairly easy to squeeze. if its closed there will be some pressure. you will hear the little pin on the thermostat rattling.
  8. Hello all. This is my first post. I recently purchased a 1998 Subaru Legacy Gt. I recently replaced the head gaskets, timing components, etc.. Anyways.. The car fires up and runs, however, it idles a little low and the motor has some hesitation. I recently read the code and it was for bank 1 sensor 2. When I took sensor out I went ahead and bench tested it and it was producing voltage just fine.I also checked the wiring harness and it was fine. Now my question is, what would cause the downstream 02 sensor to trigger a check engine light. Is there an exhaust leak between the two cat converters?
