  1. I have a 94’ Loyale with 136k on her and she fires up first time every time out in the driveway. Driving and accelerating she does fine. If I run a few errands and turn her off, I’ll come back out to start her up, and she will take about 8 cranks to get her running. After she finally cranks, no issues.

I have replaced the fuel pump (20+ years old, doesn’t hurt) and the fuel filter, no resolve. My next thought would be the FPR, so I purchased a Delphi one off of eBay and it’s identical, except the shaft going into the TB has a bigger diameter than the stock one.

So my question is, am I missing anything that I have already considered or changed? It’s an older car and I’m trying to get her out on the road again and dependable.

    thanks in advance.

  2. A bad black wire in the fusible link box will cause it to not crank over. A broken distributor side, cam belt will prevent the car from starting but the engine will crank over. A leak through the intake manifold gasket will prevent the cylinder with the leaky gasket from firing even if it has both gas and spark. A disconnected coil to distributor wire will keep it from starting but allow it to crank over. The wire coming off the + battery terminal that goes to the fusible link box, gets hard at the battery terminal end and may break on high mileage vehicles.

I'll check the fusible link. Fingers crossed

  3. Decided to working my wagon cause I was burning through gas at a crappy rate.

Changed the fuel filter, cap, rotor and plugs.

Cranked it up and nothing. It will turn over but won't crank.

I have fuel, put the old cap and rotor on and nothing changed. Put a new coil on, no change. Triple checked firing order and wire orientation on cap.

    No loose connections, everything tight.

    Is it the distributor? ECU?

Seems super odd since it ran just fine prior to this routine maintenance. Any help would be appreciated.

  4. Similar issue.

Just changed the fuel filter, cap, rotor and plugs. Car was running and starting just fine but now, after changing all of these tune up parts, no crank. It will turn-over but won't crank.

I have fuel past the new fuel filter, checked that. Triple checked firing order and wire orientation on cap. Placed the old cap and rotor back on to test that theory out. Nothing. Battery is plenty strong.

I bought an Accel coil and hooked it up incase I fried the coil. Nothing.

    Could it be the distributor????
