  1. Ya ever left a window rolled down and a kitty decides to jump in and use your car as a litterbox? Well, the stuff to use to get the urine or poop smell out (god, i *hate* the smell of cat piss) is called "Nature's Miracle". You get it from a pet store, it's not cheap, but I swear it is the only thing I've tried that works. It doesn't cover odor up, it "eats" it with enzymes. I've tried the basic formula with great results in the past and now just tried the cat-specific formula, just as great. They also have a skunk odor remover forumla for those really unfortunate experiences of trying to domesticate a wild skunk in the back seat of your soob!
  2. Wipers work on slow and fast, but not on intermittent. Is there a relay or something I need to replace? This is on an 87 gl wagon
  3. Asavage- If you don't mind waiting (I know, it's getting cold), I might head to the junkyard again in a week or two. If I see a good resistor block, I'll send it to you for $10 (includes shipping). Email me in a few days and I'll have a better idea if and when I'll be going. Depends on the weather a lot.
  4. Forgive me as I'm a rookie when it comes to car maintenance... I want to check the air gap in my Nippendenso distributor. The reluctor point is supposed to be up against the metal pickup thingy, right? Is it supposed to be that way with the car off, or do I have to move it there? I tried turning the shaft, what gives? Also, what makes a timing light "inductive" vs. non-inductive and why does it matter? Is a cheap timing light a dwell/tach just fine or should I get something decent?
  5. Al, Try Pull-Apart-Parts in either Lynwood or Everett. I was just there last week and got the resistor block coil AND the whole blower fan for $2.50. The guy at the register could plainly see the resistor block, but he seemed to only charge me for the fan motor, maybe because they assumed the parts go together. Definately the way to go if you got the time to drive there Aaron's Auto in S. Seattle wanted $45 for the blower fan, didn't ask about the resistor block...but they'll pull the part for you and ship it, unlike PAP.
  6. If you need any Soob work done, Brian's Subaru Clinic in Burien has been good for me in the Seattle area. I was just there today to have a DOJ boot replaced and some ball joint near the driver's front wheel. They're cheaper than a dealer and I trust the guys there. If you can swing it to get over to the east of the mountains, go to H&D Auto in Wenatchee. Harry and Dave there used to work to the Soob dealer in town years ago, and have since started their own shop. They've done work for me much cheaper than I could have done over here, but maybe that's because I've been their customer for 15 years. Any case, they are good guys as well. I don't work for either these guys - just a happy customer. Tell them Jason Rumohr sent you. Good luck!
  7. I think I might go for the Club, anyone know which one is best? I've heard of people being able to get those things off... Jason
  8. My 1987 GL Wagon was stolen on July 2, 2003. I recovered it August 4, 2003. Stolen from the north Capitol Hill area and recovered on Eastlake near Azteca. Apparently it was stolen to steal the stereo (the face was detached but stashed in the car) and the Yakima roof rack with bike mounts. They also stole all my CDs except the ones I had burned on my pc. I imagine they took it to a garage a spent their time drilling out the locks on the roof rack. They must have been desperate. The stereo was a few years old and starting to go on the fritz. The roof rack was several years old and rusty in some places. No other damage is apparent. It had 3/4 tank of gas when it was stolen and when I got it back, so it was a neighborhood sort of gig. The guy at the auto body shop (i thought the doorlocks were broken) said with older cars, the tumblers in the locks and ignition get rather worn, and if someone had a pocketful of 50 car keys, one of them might've finally fit my car. I found my car because someone saw one of my signs I had posted around the neighborhood about a stolen car. I hope this info helps someone else!
