  1. They should at least have the diagnostic trouble codes on there, so that you can know that your gas cap is the thing making your CEL come on without having to take the car somewhere.:-\
  2. I had looked at ALLDATA as well. They give you a tiny preview, but it looks pretty good from what I could see. From what I understand, one bonus with that is that it has TSBs and other periodical info. How does ALLDATA compare to the OEM manuals?
  3. I saw a couple of those too. I just like the idea of being able to print a page and get it dirty or write on it. I like printing the electical schematics and then checking off components I have verified as good.
  4. Where do you get them from? I looked at the subaru.com site (http://techinfo.subaru.com/html/index.jsp) and it's not free.

I recently bought a 99 OBW and was wanting to get a manual. I've tried Haynes and Chiltons but they don't seem to have all the info. The chiltons didn't have anything on the screw in pistons on the front brakes on my 90 loyale and it is pretty lacking in the electrical section. Thanks
  6. I have had the same problem off and on. The thing thats different with mine is that it will come out the exhaust also and it only does it when it is warming up or when I shut off the engine after a drive. One of the coolant lines to the turbo was beginning to crack at the end, so I cut the end off and reattached it temporarily. I am in the process of replacing all of my cooling lines so I will see if the smoking still occurs after the lines are replaced.
  7. I think in other car manuals I've read that you can tap them in with a socket that can fit in the race of the housing. Can this be done here or is the race tapered or something? Even better, if you had a large C-clamp you could put a board or something over the front/back of the housing and use the clamp to push on the socket as a makeshift press. Dunno if the clamp would have enough leverage to press it in, but I think it would be worth a try. I have to replace my front cv axles and am going to replace the bearings at the same time. I may try the c-clamp idea when I do that.
  8. Skip, The crash wasn't that bad but it cracked the radiator neck of the plastic radiator. I had to pull the Accessory idler pull off because it siezed up and after I did so, I noticed the bracket part of it was bent a little. I guess it may have been hit by the radiator and damaged the bearings. After noticing that, I looked at the power steering pump and I don't see anything visibly wrong. The shaft seems to spin just fine and none of the lines seem harmed. the pulley for the pump is the part that sticks out the farthest. I'll try some of the treatment you recommend.   9. Hi I'm new and have an odd problem that I don't know where to start with. My pwr steering pump growls like it's starving for fluid whenever I brake hard or whenever i am going down a steep incline. If I park on an incline it will whine. I checked the fluid level and it looks perfectly fine. I had an wreck involving the front end of the car not to long after I got it:mad: , and had to replace the radiator. I'm wondering if the pwr steering pump might be damaged, but the problem seems to be with the fluid whenever it gets sloshed to the front of the car. I downloaded the EA82 FSM's from another post I saw and skimmed through them, but I didn't see anything describing my problem. Would I need to bleed the system? Has anyone had a problem like this?
