  1. Thanks for the help on this. I've got a garage and can run a heater for a while before trying to get in there. I'm in Indiana, so hopefully I can find a milder day. Sounds like the panels back there all "pop" straight out with a trim removal tool. We do have auto yards down in Indianapolis, but they haven't had many Subarus in there lately. Good idea to practice there first. NH
  2. Another idea/thought. I've got a multi-meter. Is there a way to check the pin I'm supposed to be grounding? Or perhaps use a test light? NH
  3. I love pick and pulls. There are two yards in Indianapolis that I'm close to. https://upullandpay.com/indianapolis/home/ https://www.pullapart.com/locations/indianapolis/ OK..that's good info to know from TSM. Nothing blinks. I'll certainly go verify we have the right pin, which I"m 99.99% sure according to the other link, but nothing blinks. We did it exactly like in the post, light was on, key off, ground, key on and no blinking. Bleeding the system again shouldn't be too bad. Our calipers are almost new, so nothing should be bad rusted yet. I get what you are saying about not trying to ground other things. Anyone know of another way to test the ABS unit itself? NH
  4. This shows the area there was dripping. Am I correct that the other picture is of the spray nozzle? Thanks in advance for any tips on how to sort through this and find the leak NH
  5. So, I put in some fluid and it apparently pumped, but was leaking somewhere up at the top of the rear opening. I would assume I start taking off trim to get into all of this? Any tips? Am I right that it goes from the reservoir up to the flexible connector and then down to the bracket that holds the rear wiper? It appears my leak is just before it gets to the flexible connector
  6. The cigarette lighter doesn't seem to work. Anyone know if this is the original setup or if the aftermarket radio (apparently) changed things around. It's never worked since we have had the car, which is about a year. The OBD port does work and the fuse appears good, so I'm pretty sure there is power to the circuit. How can I use a meter to test this? How do I get the lighter port out to try and swap it.
  7. Here are some more pics of what I'm dealing with. This shows where the crush washer apparently goes. There is a rubber gasket that fits down in the grove and apparently the crush washer (or perhaps two of them) go on top. Right now I have one installed and it knocked out most of the leaks. I want to get all the leaks fixed so we can keep the area clean, so we can see if anything else is leaking or if this was iit. NH
  8. The power steering unit leaked all over the place when the car was passed down to us. Given the age I figured we would just get a rebuilt pump, which we did. All of the gaskets were really brittle when we took it apart. I don't have any memory of "crush washers", like on banjo bolts for brakes being at the bottom of the reservoir. When we put everything back together we put a new rubber gasket on the reservoir connection and figured it would be good. We did notice the kit came with 2 copper crush washers, but didn't use them because there wasn't one in there when it came apart. It would slowly leak whether or not the engine was running or not. So, we took it apart and figured out that a crush washer would fit just great over top of where the rubber gasket was at so we tried that. At first I thought we fixed it but after about 24 hours you could see just the least little bit of leakage. Now I'm wondering if we should try another crush washer and just try to get it tighter or perhaps double stack the crush washers. This is the first Subaru I've tried to work on and the first power steering pump I've ever done. I'm usually pretty good with other mechanical stuff, but no history with this particular kind of thing. Check out the pics you can see the crush washer and where they go. Could you possibly be supposed to double stack them?? The instructions didn't say. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/cardone-power-steering-pump-w-o-reservoir-import-21-5932/18710113-P?navigationPath=L1*14921|L2*15009|L3*15715 That is the pump I put on it
  9. https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/113645-how-to-read-abs-codes/ We used the thread above to find the connector and after we ground pin 6. Nothing flashes. For good measure we tried to ground the other pins as well. Nothing made it blink. The ABS light has come on in the same manner for as long as we've had the car, which is about a year. Mileage is about 250K. When you start the car the ABS light goes out. As soon as your roll forward 10 or 15 feet the light comes on and stays on. We've also hit the brakes on wet pavement to verify the ABS really doesn't work. It doesn't. We also tried to ground the appropriate pin and drive a bit. Once the ABS light came on, nothing blinked. Shutting it off and then back to run resulted in NO blinking. So....it's like it doesn't "remember" that an ABS light was on. Any ideas on the next step. We'd love to get ABS going again so it would be better in the snow. We just got a set of snow tires, so it should be a beast if we can get the ABS going again. Thanks NH
