  1. the main relay is located just above/behind the fuse box on my 97 OBS. it should be red i think forgot this post was aabout an 09 fozzy
  2. do a vacuum test. my aunts OBS had the same problem and it ended up being a cracked manifold if i remember correctly
  3. this happened on my 97 wagon and i had to replace a bunch of wires from the hatch harness heres a super simple way to do it. _________________________________________________________________ Tools Required: Multimeter Wire Stripper Wire Coat Hanger or solid welding wire Electrical Tape about 30-40 feet of wire. i used red and yellow wire lots of butt splices __________________________________________________________________ TAKE PICTURES TAKE PICTURES TAKE PICTURES TAKE PICTURES Pull out all of the trim near the hatch. (on 97 outbacks you have to start pulling the trim at the front and work to the back. only the upper trim) find the point on the inner hatch where the wiring harness splits into its different connecters. add a few inches and cut it do the same for the body connecters down by the right rear fender. they should go up by the tail light and go into the hatch (use your multimeter to check if your not sure now pull the new wire through with that fancy weldingwire/coathanger. i had 9 wires in my 97 the upper brake light connecter doesnt go into the lock area of the hatch. it takes a sharp left as soon as it goes through the boot and goes directly to the brake light. the ground from the brake light went up into the lock area and connected to the main ground wire from the body. now for the hardest part. wire it up. I used a multimeter to check what wires went into the harness and then spliced matching colors. this worked for me just fine. now put the battery on and make sure you dont get any BIG sparks. like the scary ones. (do this with your door closes and all the knobs set to off pop it on again and walk around the car and make sure theres no hot electric smells. start the car and profit. it took me 2 days to do the entire procedure and i have no experience working with electrical stuffs
  4. check the plugs on the transmission that come from the TCU and are near the exhaust. a heat shield might have been ripped off causing wire to melt. (am no expert just what i would take a look at)
  5. pretty sure my aunts subi had this problem and it was a cracked intake manifold. swapped it and it ran like a beauty. till it ended in a river
  6. found the short and fixed it a 3 days ago. coulda saved myself lots of trouble by unplugging the hatch. it was a botched repair of the hatch harness. i bought new wire and cut all the joints out back near the top of the hatch and replaced them with about 5 feet of new wire the repair seems to be working fine and my car hasnt burnt to the ground. the airbag light came on and i missed 1 bolt. and a few trim pieces . im pretty pleased with the result but if anyone knows where the 2 grounds behind the radio go i would appreciate the help .
  7. we need more details on what kind of outback it is :edit: im dumb the impreza outback didnt come with the H6 afaik heres an ebay part. just make sure it fits. if your not going to do the swap yourself i would expect a fat pricetag in the range of 1500+ (including tranny) https://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-SUBARU-LEGACY-OUTBACK-AUTOMATIC-TRANSMISSION-3-0L-W-VDC-AWD/273936168365?hash=item3fc7de35ad%3Ag%3A1ToAAOSwraRdMlA4&fits=Year%3A2002|Model%3AOutback|Make%3ASubaru
  8. does anyone know what that main/accessory box is? it had a single cat 4 cable that ran from the box near the hole in the dash by the mirror and it ran all the way to the center vent up by the window. possible further. havent gotten to the cable yet
  9. for sure. i managed to get the damn thing all the way out but it seems that there is just a short somewhere causing the funky wiring
  10. I just bought this 97 OBS from some random and i threw a new battery in it and it runs and drives. kinda. So it has an aftermarket Autopage RF-350 system that got installed however it seems it was wired into the wiper system. Whenever i cycle the door locks the wipers move. this always happens no matter the wiper settings. After tons of googling and ripping out the aftermarket alarm ive discoverd that its a short somewhere in the cabin. its probably near the fusebox but im not sure ill upload some pictures in the morning
