  1. I had an experience with a 94' Chevy S-10 where after I changed the hood release cable I unknowingly pinched one of the wires for the turn signal against the inner fender. From there on it was not the same truck, turn signals, dome lamp, brake lights, dash lights, gauges either all worked differently or not at all. My favorite was opening the ashtray turned on the dome lamp. I was certain it was possessed. Grounding can effect everything.
  2. I stopped to fill up yesterday and instead of the normal oil burning off the exhaust smell it was antifreeze. Sure enough there was the start of a puddle underneath. The only problem is I can't tell where it is coming from. Is there any sort of weep hole on the water pump? Any ideas? Thanks. 88 GL Wagon EA-82 D/R 5spd 250k miles on the clock, I'm just now breaking it in.
  3. 88 GL Wagon D/R 5spd. 1/4 of a million ( makes it sound more impressive )
  4. Thanks, the more I thought about it the more I was thinking that it may be the wrong axle for mine ( I do have the 5spd. D/R non-turbo ). When I went to the parts store I specified the 23 spline after reading about the difference here on the board, but he still may have grabbed the wrong box off the shelf. It does fit loosely on the stub so that is what got me thinking. Thanks, for the help.
  5. Okay so I got the old axle out and back in without any major problems, but here is where the trouble starts. When I got it back in and put together I fired the old gal up for a test run and made it about 2 feet, 3 max. I thought possibly that I did not get the new axle completely over the stub and it may have just slipped off. I took a closer look and it actually sheared the spring pin. I put the old pin back in since that was all I had and this time I made it out of the drive way before it broke, so I am getting closer. Soon I hope to make it all the way around the block. My question is would a 25 spline axle actually go on a 23 spline stub ( or the other way around ), I am thinking I have the wrong axle but I guess I won't know for sure until I get it back off and do some counting. Other than that the pictures submitted on this site concerning axle replacement were the best help I could have possibly found, Thanks. 1988 GL Wagon D/R 4wd 5spd. 250k on the clock, she's not pretty but hey.
  6. First I would just like to say that I just stumbled across this board yesterday and since then have already learned a lot, thanks. Second because of this board tomorrow ( my day off ) you guys gave me the confidence to change out the CV axle on my 88' GL wagon. I have had mine since November of 2003 ( She has 250k miles on the clock) and although the wife does not understand it fully she tolerates my love of this car, it was the best $ 400 I ever spent. The funny thing is that I bought it when the transmission in my 92' ford f-150 gave out ( for the 4th time in 160K miles ) and have been driving it ever since. It was even side swipped by a guy going down my street about a month ago, and it is still not dead. It's good to know that there are others out there, Thanks.
