  1. Thanks all. It looks pretty clean in the pics but it has some rust - fender corners and such that are pretty easily repairable, except for the hatch which is pretty rotted and is being replaced. It has a few minor dents, and it had a lot of scratches but the wax job really helped with that.

     

    Front tires are okay but unfortunately the rears are pretty bald and don't match - I'm probably going to hook it up with dedicated winter tires.

  2. Hey all. I just picked up a '95 Outback Wagon for $450...planning on it being a daily driver/winter beater so I don't rack up miles on my RX7. 255k and still running strong on this bad boy! Anyways it has a few issues that I'm keen on fixing.

     

    - Exhaust has the smell of unburned HC's...basically I think it's running rich. Anything I should check/replace?

     

    - Gears are sticky and the clutch feels like it's dragging (it's REALLY hard to get into gear). I'm planning on replacing the whole clutch shebang but I'm wondering if it could be something else.

     

    - Rear struts are blown...any easy strut swaps I can do for a little better handling and/or some lift? :brow:

     

    - What the hell does the fuse marked SBF No. 7 in the engine bay do? It's missing on my car.

     

    - The gas door is stuck open. The cable is siezed or something - won't pop back out to lock the door. Can I get at it anywhere?

  3. I'm temporarily coming into posession of an EA82 wagon (Trashwagon 6, some of you may be familiar) since my RX7 is out of commission for a while, and my family's Ram 1500 is horrendous on gas.

     

    Anyways the rear is jacked up with lift blocks, which I immediately plan on removing with Fox's blessing, and the front end alignment is ************ed up.

     

    What can I do to fix that? It's a Trashwagon, it's not really deserving of an expensive shop alignment.

  4. Managed to get it off of the bracket...and it's pretty thoroughly f*cked. I need a new bumper and a new mount on the front left side. Even with a lot of heat I couldn't get that bumper straight.

     

    However the rest of the damage is fixing up pretty nicely...well, nicely enough. It is a Trashwagon, and I'm no expert body shop tech....

     

    Fox may be able to figure something out, but the whole reason I'm fixing it is because he doesn't have the space, and I don't know if he'd be able to run out here to help me - expecially with the sh*tty weather we're having.

     

    I'll figure something out.

  5. After the Trashwagon's little tangle with a two-door Lumina, I'm left to repair the damage.

     

    I've got the damaged fender off and most of the radiator support straightened out - but now I have to deal with the tweaked-rump roast metal bumper. The front right side is still firm on its mounts since the collision was on the left, but the left mounts had the screw holes break and the mount bend in, leaving the bumper on the ground.

     

    I've now got the mount straightened but I need to get the bumper off to un-tweak it first. How do I go about it? It seems like the thing is mounted to the bracket pretty awkwardly - and I really don't want to undo the brackets from the frame side of things, because there is some pretty thick hardware there.:eek:

  6. I'm getting an '84 GL-10 sedan for free from a friend of mine. It's black, has the Star Wars wheels and a digital cluster, and even has some kickass (unopened) window louvers sitting in the trunk and waiting to go on it.

     

    The problem is, the car was running a while back with straight water in the system. It sat over winter and, you know it, popped a freeze plug.

     

    I'm rather new to the Subaru scene, but I happen to know Miles Fox so that should be helpful. I'm wondering if I can get this thing to run again. AFAIK, it turns over. Are there any precautions I should take, or should I pound in some plugs and get it going? Where can I even get some new freeze plugs for it?
