  1. thanks for the tips, will start an inspection. and yes the abs light goes off shortly after starting.
  2. 99 legacy wagon 2.2 L (210,000 mi) recently can feel ABS come on just before the car comes to a complete stop and skidding is definitely not occuring. Any thoughts?
  3. I put the new battery in and connections are clean. How can I prove the alternator is bad when they say it checks out? Its under warranty by autozone. Could it just be that the low idle caused by something else is causing the flickering??
  4. 99 legacy wagon with 2.2 L, IDLE IS QUITE LOW, INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER WHEN IDLING (no flicker when engine is off) ENGINE ALMOST STALLS OCCASIONALLY WHEN COME TO FAST STOP. Had Autozone check alternator while car running and no problem indicated. Then they checked the battery and said it was bad so replaced it for free (under warranty). Flickering and low idle are exactly the same with the new battery. Any thoughts?
  5. have '99 2.2 liter legacy wagon with 170,000 mi. Have been using 10-30 oil. Recently noticed clicking valve sound for first few minutes of driving at beginning of day. Also a slight miss when first starting. Should I try an additive like Sea Foam or Marvel? Noticed on one blog that some 2.2 liters had problem with valve guides dropping to cause sticking.
  6. Have a 2.2 lit 99 legacy wagon (170,000 mi). Steering operates fine but lately have noticed a whining sound from the steering pump wheel but only while idling. Is the pump starting to fail?????
  7. As described earlier, I was getting wear on the inside of a front tire of 99 Legacy Wagon. The alignment guy said that the camber was one degree negative. Since the camber is not adjustable on this model he suggested using a Fastcam Bolt to adjust the camber. Its an aftermarket cam bolt which replaces the upper bolt on the strut connection. I have seen one on the web that adjusts the camber up to one degree which would be perfect for my wheel. Any thoughts on pros and cons of doing this myself?
  8. reading endwrench I found the following Wheel Alignment Camber and caster are not adjustable on Subaru L-series, XT or Justy vehicles. Toe is the only adjustment that can be made.
  9. I will add that note to the "Discussion" with the "Tire Experts" next Saturday
  10. The car does drive straight whenhands off, no shaking etc. On the older tires there was some, but less, cupping on other passenger front tire on the inner side. By the way, at this point the cupping/wear only extends in about 1/3 inch from the edge of tire. I'll try taking a picture of it when it gets a little brighter (and stops raining).
  11. as to who I took it to, its a place that specializes in tires wheels suspensions and alignments. I am taking it back next Saturday and paln to fuss at them.
