will this also fit ea81?
-
I better get the sedan done then.
-
thanks, I can get all the parts I need from my work. I'm glad I asked because I did't thnk about the lube issue.

Anyone out there have a quick diagram on how to plumb the AC compressor to use with a tank for air tools and maybe a basic parts list? I have a basic understanding of how it should go but I'm not positive whether I am 100% right or not. Also if anyone knows the psi on one of these compressors (I will be using one from an EJ22)?

Making an air system for tools is the way to go. That's what I am gong to do with mine as well. not only can you air up your tires on the go, think about if you have to put on a spare. No more tire iron, just pull out the air ratchet and go for and indy style tire swap.

From what I can tell in the pics, they are both the same, type. Do you happen to know what year the other grill came from? If you have a double headlight setup, you wabt the grill from an '83 or '84, but if you have the single headlight setup you want an '80-'82. Only the hatches kept the single headliht pattern for some of their later models. The ones in the pic both appear to be the double headlight model, so you should be fine.
Sorry, just learned to attach pictures. -
I know austin ran his with the stock ea81 radiator and just modded the hoses to fit, and I am pretty sure the legacy radiator can be made to fit as well.

This has been a very helpful thread with the write up, thanks a lot.

do you mean ea82t or ej22t?
-
You can always try my method of dealing with a broken ignition, wire up a push button starter.

I have 14" pugs on my sedan and it is not lifted yet. There is no rubbage.
The extra inch will help you to not trim as much in the fender. I'm running 215/75/15 and a three inch lift, I had to do a good amount of trimming. -
What year is the gl-10?

If anyone in the greater seattle area is interested you can apperently get the christmas tree passes from the alderwood REI. Of course we found this out after going all the way to north bend because the seattle rei said it was the closest place.

actually I am sticking with the 5speed fly because I am going to EJ as well

what did it take to mount the MR2 seats?

How much is it to get the custom shafts again?
-
So I got my 5spd d/r from pull apart today. Now I just got to do the conversion and put it in. There are serveral ea82 wagons in PAP right now. If any one is interested there was a 2wd with a really nice dual color (red and gray) interior.
I did have one question though. Do I need the ea82 drive shaft or will the ea81 shaft fit with the ea82 tranny?
-
Yeah, i looked at it again and it looks like those are actually somewhat important if I want things to work on the car.
did you separate the engine-only wires? those are the only ones you need. its different because the wires to the engine also go to other places, and the wires from the engine go back to the computer, its not just wires and a couple sensors coming from the motor that give a read-out on an instrument panel, but thats the price of fuel injection.~Josh~

In my current sedan I am mounting 3x5 plate speakers in the front doors an 5 1/4 in the back doors. I am also running 6 1/2 subs in the rear dash. I am going to use the stock passenger side speaker in the front for the CB radio speaker. I never had a driver side front speaker, just the little tray insert.
Yeah I'll admit there was def some difficultly in getting a 4x6 to fit where a 3x5 once was but it fit...just barely. I'll see if i can borrow a friends camara and run out to the car a grab a couple of shots of it for you guys. It may take me a bit to do but ill come through! I didn't have a problem with depth on the passenger side even though the Infinity Kappa's i used are somewhat deep. There is only a vent tube behind the passenger side speaker if my memory serves me right. Or were you talking about interference with the top of the glove box? -
In my old wagon i got those $20 shucks boxes and wired them up. They will run of the deck just fine, and they sounded decent. At least they helped drown out all my "other" noises.
Got boxes for the back, need to up-grade the speakers in them. Just looking for something up front too. Kinda like the front/rear-side/side thing in my music listening. -
funny, my sedan is like 3200 something
I don't feel that at all, but hell I don't really like the car that much. so it could just be that. -
I am just about ready to actually put an ej into my 82 sedan and i was looking at the wiring harness I have and it is different than the one on my old wagon.
Instead of coming out the drivers side and wrapping around to an end, it continues right back into the passenger side of the car. Which of these are necessary and which can I remove if any? I will try to put a pic up later tonight.

I don't know if anyone cares or not, or whether everyone else knew, but i was looking in my fwd manual and noticed that the ea81 5spd is a 3.7 like the auto. I thought this might be useful for anyone doing gear swapping.

If you want a slightly bigger tank, you can always get one from a 2wd. They will only fit with a lift kit.
