Not sure what this is... Or its purpose... Looks like i has a filter inside. Connecter to two vacuum lines? Maybe both are fresh air? Sits just to the rear drivers side of the intake manifold and engine. Off a 1986 GL Hatchback. Probably the same for Brats. Thanks! If you look close you can see that the two hoses connect to two different switches (?) on the intake manifold.

Hello to everyone. I am new to the site and found valuable information for spark plug selection for my 2003 outback "mitchmobile" - THX. I did not find a similar discussion about air filters. My question is whether it is cost effective to buy the K&N air filter @ about $50 compared to a more conventional filter @ about $15? I am not looking for a high performance "rally" application - just to work and home about 70 miles a day. Does it improve MPG enough to warrant the high cost? Thanks to all for taking time to respond.

I am about to pull the trigger on my weber carb for my 85 brat (ea81). I have heard that there could be an issue with hood clearance with the 2.5" tall air filter. They do make a 1.75" tall air filter. Will the 2.5" work? Or would I have to go with the 1.75" so the hood will close. Also, I am debating on getting a manual choke vs. electric. Anybody have any comments on that? I love the manual choke on all my dirtbikes. There something about not being able to control my choke that I don't like. However, if seems as if most people doing this conversion go with the electric choke and do not have any issues. Any reason why I should not go with the manual choke? Thanks in advance.
