2.5 turbo into an outback...

Featured Replies

I have been wanting to give up the Outback for a Baja. Specifically a Baja with a 5spd and turbo. I was thinking about swapping in a 2.5 turbo. I am assuming it is a direct bolt up? But what about the ECU? just swap the turbo ecu in also?

it'll bolt right up but the wiring is going to be different.

It will bolt right up to the bellhousing, but everthing else...

I take it you have a 2000-2004 Outback, which might make things easier since that's what the Baja is based on. You will need a turbo cross member (probably from a Baja), Baja ECU, wiring harness, and exhaust manifold. You should also get yourself a baja hood for the intercooler. It's going to be just like a 'standard' STi swap, which means the wiring is going to take some time.
