pearlm30
Is the 2.2 engine from a outback sport impreza has the same bolt pattern( engine to trans) as the 98 2.2???
svxpert
theres 4 main bolts (two bolts, two nuts) that connect the engine to tranny in the early EJ engine years, but i know subaru added two more bolt holes in the late 90"s to there engine. regardless you can fit those two fine. subaru360
All subaru EJ engines bolt to all EJ transmissions. In 99 they added 4 extra bolts. You can swap the 8 bolt and the 4 bolt parts around just leave 4 bolts out, the other 4 line up.
idosubaru
yes those two will both bolt up the same. but those engines might not be easily interchangeable. the EJ22 (and EJ25) went through quite a few changes then. just go look and you'll see how different a 99 EJ22 is from a 98. if the intake manifold doesn't swap (it may not), then the wiring may be different.
