  1. What about the ABS pump in the engine bay? There is a grounp of wire harness goes thru the right fender to the ABS pump. When you swap the bulkhead engine harness, do you have to swap the ABS pump harness???
  2. Im looking for a cheap outdoor car cover for 97 Legacy outback wagon. Any advice? Thanks
  3. 95 EJ22 with a lot of oil stain. The one in question is leaking from the left rear camshaft end cap(black in color). How do I replace this end cap to stop the oil leak??? Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi mcnea001 Just curious if you replaced the rear main seal??? I am kind of in the same boat. I have hear almost all brown(viton) rear main seals never leak. But not sure about the black rear main ?
  5. I am planning on doing EJ22 reseal when the engine is out of the car. Do you guys recommend Harbor Freight 750lbs engine stand? Is it going to work with subaru boxer engines? Do I need special bolts to mount it? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks
  6. I often seen people talked about the EJ22 engines are more reliable than EJ25. But members rarely talked about the reliability of phase 1 and phase 2(external screwed on filter) auto transmissions. Any inputs???
  7. Hate to bring this up, but after spending a few hours search on the forum. I am still confused. I was looking at a rust free 99 outback auto tranny with bad engine and possibly bad transmission as well. I am planning to do a EJ22 engine swap and here are some of my questions 1)Can I direct swap(bolt on) a 95 EJ22 with auto to this 99 outback auto? 2)Did the 99 outback auto come with phase 2 tranny? The one with screw on type of ATF filter(one with delayed engagement problem)? 3) If question #2 is ture, is it possible to do a direct swap to the 99 outback? I have done a few swap from 95 legacy to 97, 98 outbacks. But never to a 99 outback. Please advice Thanks a lot!
  8. Got an OEM fuel filter with shiny finish, but the one in MY98 forester has a black finish. Just curious if there are any differences on the two?
  9. I had the same problem ever since my 98 forester EJ22 swap. Not sure if I hooked the heater hoses wrong or what during the swap. But I decided to reverse them this morning. Wow, no more water gurgle sound when driving and I have better stronger heat at idle. Hope this may help someone. Thanks to OP
  10. Anyone heard or used the right stuff one minute gasket by permatex? Was thinking use it on oil separator plate at back of the engine. Is this RTV more durable and reliable than the regular grey RTV? Thanks
  11. 2000 Forester with rusty fuel rails. I haven't seen this problem before on early EJ22s. Can this become a dangerous situation(rust thru and spray fuel all over and catch on fire?) How easy is it to replace them? anyone seen this problem before? Thanks
  12. Congrats and nice work! bTW I saw that you used blue devil head gaskets repair before you tore everything off, did you see any evident of clogging anywhere in the cooling system?
  13. Likes: Excellent reliablity. Cheap and easy to maintain. Parts are all over the junk yards. Dislikes: Rusty bodies and brake lines if you live in one of salt belt states. Options of Diesel engines for US drivers.
