1999 outback

tried to research this on the net but no luck

the display went out for the clock/ station window on a P118 model

when you turn the lights on it is suppose to light up also

all the other lights on the radio work...very weird

went to the junkyard and got a P114 model same thing

now really confused...is it 2 radios or in the wiring?

can someone please help?

It's the radio. Mine was like that. I ditched it in favor of the $400 Panasonic cd player I've had in my closet for the past two years.

I've had 5 90's Outbacks, I think the backlight worked on one radio. Pulled one apart a few years ago and replaced the bulbs with some from radio shack, but they were a little taller and the face never clipped back on right. Plus they were a pain to get at and replace.

Common issue not worth fixing. I have several radio's and folks are frequently contacting me asking about a radio with a light that works and all of mine have the same issue. I don't even check that anymore - just if they play and that the LED's are o.k.

 

Wish it was as easy as the HVAC lights to fix.
