98 legacy L sedan sway bar?

Featured Replies

98 legacy L Sedan

hi,

i have a friend with a BD legacy. It has a bent FRONT sway bar and needs to be replaced.

anyone know if any of the sway bars from any other model will fit? or does anyone have a used one for sale in the longisland area?

im sure there are tons of guys with WRXs around me that have used sway bars lying around. does anyone know if these wil fit?

i need it ASAP. (2 days or sooner)

Thanks a lot!

Fred

For the most part they're the same, except for the turbo models. How did he manage the bend the sway bar?

hmm.

subaru said they wont fit........... hm...

im looking at a junk yard tomorrow morning. the car needs to get finished by tomorrow night really.. so theres not much of a choice than to get one either from a yard or a dealership if i cant figure out for CERTAIN that one out of another car will fit...

my friend drove into one of those cement blocks at the end of parking spots... when exiting a parking lot.. and didnt see it sticking out.. it was in an akward position compared to other lots.....

so of course the control arm is bent and the sway bar link snapped...

WRX ones will not fit the front. The turbo ones are shaped different. An Impreza one should fit. They all look the same to me, but I haven't tried it. There are various diameter bars also so if you get a larger or smaller one, get the bushings to match.

hmm... according to that.. an earlier N/A impreza might work.... but it doesnt seem explicitly clear about front sway bars to me..

i dont think well have enough time to track down a 2.5rs front sway bar in time... and to get hte bushings.. we might just have to get the stock one from a dealer or a junk yard hopefully...

=/ thanks for all the help.

i can ship you a 1997 Legacy GT front sway bar. PM/email for price/shipping info if you're interested.

I have one already off somewhere around here off a 96 Legacy sedan.

But I couldn't have shipped it in time.

I also should have one on the 95 Legacy sedan - but again couldn't get it removed and to you in time.

Hope your local search turns something up.

Sweet, if you want one, get it from Dave, i'd rather not mess with it anyway.
