rear window defrost switch

Featured Replies

Hi folks, I am not sure if the rear window defrost switch and hazard light switch are backlite , and supposed to light up with the rest of the dash lights ?:-\

If so what number light is it ?

Thanks :)

Don't hold me to this, but I think they only light up when being used.

I hope Valvestem you are right , and they are just burnt out. Going to pull the dash apart and see if they are burnt .

Any else have this trouble with these switches ?

you did not state the year and model.

if its a 91-94 legacy, they should have backlight on when lights are on, and they also have the in use light when pressed on. 2 lights.

you did not mention a year, so I cannot help with anything else, and nobody else can help either.

PLEASE state model and year.

Sorry Folks .my bad ... It is a 96 impreza wagon 2.2l a/c auto AWD

You should have a backlight, and a separate light when the switch is activated.

From what I understand, it uses the same bulb as the back lighting in HVAC control panel. You'll have to disassemble the switch to replace it, but it's entirely possible and the bulbs are cheap from radio shack.

And yes it's a very common issue. Look in the New gen FAQ sticky at the top of the page and the first link in that thread is all about replacing bulbs.
