heater controls 90 legacy

Featured Replies

when i push the buttons to change from one setting to another for example defrost to vent nothing happens. i searched and found that the soldered connections on the back of the unit can cause this problem. but when i press the defrost or defrost/heat button the fans turn on. and when any button is pressed i can hear a clicking like a relay from the fuse box area. does this mean that my controls are working and my problem is elsewhere or can the connections still be the problem. because this makes my think my buttons are working.

anyone have any ideas.

buttons may be working to engage ac comp on def/defheat mode which will turn on the fans, but not working to change air flow direction, thump the dash above control to see if you can get direction change if so then you'll need to pull control and resoder conectors, its only going to get worse! Sorry, been there done that............G

that's awesome, that helps you figure out what's wrong right? has to be the controls?

i pulled the control unit out today and did find alot of connections that needed resoldered. it seems to be working good so far but i'll give it some time and see what happens before i say it's finally fixed.

I drove mine an entire winter with the dash sort of apart till I was sure it was fixed. I also picked up a spare control at the jy and resoldered it ahead of time, spare parts are a gold mine............G
