What year/make rims will fit on my 1999 Outback?

Featured Replies

I blew a tire yesterday and the new one won't be in until next weekend. I need to be able to get around for the weeks (about 300 miles) so I was thinking I would call around to the junk yards Monday morning and see if I can find a rim with a tire on it that is usable for a week (with the FWD fuse in obviously, don't want to replace the clutch). I need to figure out what years/models have rims that will fit on my 99 Outback.

If you have a manual transmission, the no option for a fuse for FWD only.

You should be able to find a good used wheel close by, the tires should also match.

http://www.car-part.com should find a wheel for you.

5 x 100 is the spacing and that's standard 90-2001 and may be more except for SVX and STI Subaru's

Any Subaru 15 or 16 inch wheels should work with tires up to 225/60/16, since you have Outback lift clearance. I personally have WRX wheels on a 97 Legacy L wagon with 205/55/16 tires and no issues. I think you be safe with 95 through 04 as far years to look for. I wouldn't recommend trying 14 inch wheels as they may not fit or at least be lousy for handling.

Not sure which year SOA offer the 17 inch wheels and I'm not sure they would clear when mounted.

You could try a search on the board for anyone that might have tried the 17 inch tire and wheel setup.

Thanks for the info guys. I have an auto so the FWD fuse is in. I am waiting for the junkyards to open up so I can get something. I just need to get through the week, then I will keep it as a full sized spare.
