brake caliper piston repair

Featured Replies

Hi, is anyone out there having a repair manual for the front brake caliper piston for a subaru leone 1989 ea82. mine started leaking from the seal and was wondering if there is any way can repair it to try an save from buying a new one.

yep, it's very easy, there's nothing to it. remove piston (keep pressing brake pedal until it comes out). replace seal, boot, and spring clip - there's nothing to it really. no special tools, very straight forward and there's really only one seal. the clip holds the boot in place - though i've seen some newer single piston subaru calipers that dont' even have a clip to hold the boot.

The rebuild kits are avalible from like schucks and autozone type parts houses. I think mine were like 9 bucks a side.

easy breezy just like grossgary said.

yeah i bought the single piston kits this summer - $3 a side i think!

I just did a caliper on an 86gl with the e brake on it, after removing the piston and seal in the caliper. I was having a hard time getting the piston started on the screw insid the piston. I removed the e brake cable and pulled the lever to make the screw higher to install the piston. I wired the lever to keep the screw higher to get the piston started on the screw.i hope this can help someone , it made it easier for me.
