starter issues

Featured Replies

thanks to some of you guys i was able to successfully figure out the tranny fluid leak from replacing the head gaskets last weekend in my pops 97 obw. didnt have the torque converter seated all the way thanks to my lack of knowledge with subarus. didnt toast the fluid pump and everything seems fine but i ran into a starter issue. i turn the key and it clicks like it engages but doesnt spin to start the car. if i turn the key a couple of times it eventually cranks over. im saying replace the starter but i figured i would ask to make sure there isnt anything im doing wrong. all connections and wires are good and i replaced it just like i took it off and tried tappin on it with a hammer. any advice?

thanks

It sounds like the solenoid contacts inside the starter are bad. You can replace the contacts for a cost of around 15 dollars or just replace the starter.

He will probably need the plunger too, I just did mine last week, got the parts from here: http://www.nationsautoelectric.com/densoparts.html. I bought the kit for $35 shipped.
