I just bought a lifted 82 brat, the drivers side axle was broke at the trans side, i put a new one in but it seems stiff when wheel is turned, would like to know if there is a length diff. in between the other cars. thanks, ken

left and right axles are the same lenght. you can take one from one side of the car and install it on the other side.

 

you will find differences between FWD and 4wd axlles in shaft or axle cup diameter, but the length is the same and the fit the knuckle and trans the same.

There are no length differences in any Subaru axles across the EA81 line. All axles are the same and all are interchangeable. The 2WD axles have smaller diameter joints but it does not affect their installation or operation.
