Intercooler plumbing q

Featured Replies

Ok im talking abou the ea82t. There is the inlet and the outlet, which goes to the trottle. On the stock plennum(sp?) there is another hose that, i think, comes from the thermostat housing. what is this for and what are u supposed to do with it when plumbing an intercooler?

Once you take the plenum off, the size holes are self explanitory. Obviously, you can see what is the turob and what is the throttle body.

The small hose comming from the t-stat housing is idle control, mostly for cold start. Just plumb that in at either before the IC, or after, just make sure you plumb it in.

It would help to know what kind of IC you are using, that way we can better help you plumb it up.

I know which hole is in inlet and outlet. Im gonna be using the rx7 intercooler. So how would i plum it in? into one of the inlet or outlet hoses? Ive never had to do this before so im just curious.

oh no!! I was gonna use one....i could not decide on how I was gonna plumb it...so i never got one...Lemme look on ebay and see what I came up with...

Obviously use that stright in/out as the outlet from the IC, to go int the throttle body, and sicne I have not seen the bottom, you'd have to plumb to turob to go out, bend, to the ic inlet, bend to mate to it. Sometihng like that..and then hood scoop to feed it air for the IC effect! something like that........

Ok you sorta confused me with all the bends and what not but its ok. Basically all i gotta do is figure out how to fit it to the turbo side and the throttle body. am i right?

out of curiosity what intercooler are you running on your rx?

Yeah, thats it. lol

I, unfortunatly, dont have an IC. IF i did, it would be a stock WRX unit.

yea i almost had one for 100 bucks on ebay but the every last second i got outbid. Must have been one of those auction snippers. What are you boosting?

Stock boost. Although with some crazy haribrained home made downpipe, ive had boost creep to 16 psi on the RX, and 12 on the wagon.

ahh yea i think i read your post about that. Just to let you know as of like 2 minutes ago the rx7 intercooler is out and the wrx is in! I just got one off ebay for 40 bucks with free shipping. Incredible find if you ask me. Im happier then a pig in sh*t right now
