91 loyale to 82 brat swap

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Im wondering if somebody has some say on this matter.

I have a 82 brat w/ engine and tranny fried.

I have a 91 Loyale totalled but engine and tranny are good.

From what I can see so far It will be a fairly easy change over as far as bolt up.

I havent checked out the electrical yet (may be a chore but possible)

My ????

If I use the total power plant from the 91 will I have to change the rear end also to keep the same gear ratio when in 4x4.

I would appreciate any and all thoughts in this matter.

Im only lookin for a great finished RIGHT product.

I believe it will be a sweet ride when done.

No time line yet.

Tx

Tim

If they are both non -turbo then you can use the rear end in the Brat and not have to change it. And there are a few of the Brats on this board that have had that change done. (Mine's not one of them) But I am going to do the same thing.

Make sure you understand the 82 Brat trans is unique in that it uses the smaller clutch disc...McBrat points this out in his post in that search result.

Rear driveshaft will have to be lengthened.
