Lights Are acting weird/speedo issues

1st issue in a 1999 Forester, the speedo doesnt work unless you whack the dash over the speedo, then it starts working....?

 

2nd When I honk the horn, brake etc... my headlights and interior lights dim.... Is this the alternator or voltage regulator?

How many miles are on the car?

 

Sounds like the alternator has issues. Try checking the electrical connections to the battery and the grounds.

 

If everything looks OK have the alternator checked out.
