Water Leak from front of engine

Featured Replies

I am new to Subaru's and have an 86 XT GL that I bought and supposedly the person that I bought it from had replaced the head gaskets. He failed to bolt the motor mount back down and hook the exhaust back up and there was no coolant in the radiator. When I got it home I bolted the motor mount back down and hooked the exhaust back up, changed the thermostat and gasket just for the sake of it, so I went to add coolant and it poured out the front of the engine once the block got full, it sounded like the coolant was coming out of the front of each head. So my question is this are there any coolant drain / freeze plugs in the front of the heads where it sounded like the coolant was coming from? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There are drain plugs on the bottom of the heads.

But my guess is the water pump is leaking

there are drain plugs on the heads, on the passenger side it will be on the front of the head, on the driver at the rear.

check the bolt that holds the water piupe down where the lower hose connects. that can leak if the o-ring is bad, or the pipe is not inserted in all the way.

I am not Completely Sure about the Trouble, Maybe I Didn't understood it well... but let me tell you that the Water Pump has a 5/8" Hose that comes from the its upper Part in 90 Degrees to give a Hot Water Flow to the Heather... maybe it has Failed...

I Hope this can Help.

Kind Regards.
