Have to do hg on 94 lego I just bought I also decided to do the valves since the heads had to be shaved. What in the world do you guys use for A valve spring compressor. I have 4 different kinds here and none of them will work. Trying a Little Home mod on one right now. This is a real pretty car with no rust.Besides it has a turbo.

Don't ever do the top end of an engine without also doing the bottom. You create a situation where the valves seal like new while the bottom end is worn - this causes stress on already worn bearings and larger amounts of blow-by gasses causing fouling of the engine oil. There is always a high incidence of internal failure shortly after doing a full valve job to an otherwise untouched block.

 

Mill the heads if you must - but only enough to clean the surface. Leave the valves alone unless there is a specific problem that needs to be addressed.

 

Those are general rules. Each situation is different and it's a judgement call. You will have to decide if the condition of the bottom end warrants the higher cylinder pressure's that will result and if that will shorten it's life..... or if that even matters to you.

 

Assuming that's an EJ22T you are working on - that engine *block* is worth $1000. I wouldn't risk it.
