EA82 Long block weight

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what the weight of a EA82 long block,

block, cyclinders, heads, valve covers, timing covers, oil pan,

NO flywheel or flex plate.

I just jumped on the forklift and put my spare one on our scale, its 240#'s but thats with it sitting on a 1/2 pallet and a tire...figure 225, with no flexplate or flywheel, heads and everything else is still attached.

i just know that i´ve never used a winch or anything other than a friend to pull a EA82 from a car

Pulled a long block at the bone yard yesteday,, looks saweeet. '91 loyale EA82, 2wd auto, 62K. This weekend or next I will do the swap. Pop in a new rear main seal is about all I should have to do. My son and I just lifted it out. Course we had to cut out the front bumper, damaged, radiator, damaged, so it was a straight shot out of the car.

Good lord I'd love to find something with 62k on it. Great find!!!:)

Just about everything we get into our yard has 250k on it, which makes me feel good when I buy one with 175k on it, at least I know that they ARE capable of lasting until that type of mileage (unless someone fails to negotiate a tree) in which case, we get it.
