CEL Flashing

Featured Replies

Long story short. Paasenger window smashed. Radio yanked out. Love loiving outside the crappiest city in Pennsylvania. Insurance paid to fix window and torn dash.

Just picked the car back up and the CEL is flashing. Used the search button but didn't find anything. What can cause this? Does something need to be reset?

Are the radiator fans cycling on and off? If so, the under-dash diagnostic/test mode connectors are probably coupled together -- they shouldn't be, but someone might have assumed they were disconnected by the thief.

Check for those connectors being joined, and separate them if they are.

If you're not familiar with the connectors, see my post #3 of this thread:

Is the car running OK? Check the green test mode connectors under the dash first. They should be disconnected. If you find them apart the get the car to a local parts store and have the code scanned then post it here.

It was the green connectors. TYVM for the help.:)

I'm glad it was that simple.

I guess it's just human nature to assume that two connectors which obviously match should always be connected.

it also tells me why my cigarette lighter socket stayed on with the ignition off.
