Does anybody have a good way to recover a dipstick that broke off the handle and dropped back into my daughter's 1990 loyale manual transmission? We are trying the magnet-on-a-stick method without success.

how far down did it go, can you still see it or is it way down there?

 

two sided tape wrapped around something thin enough to stick down the hole.

 

get one of those three prong "fingers" to fish it out. they have a handle that opens/closes the jaws to grab stuff and are very tiny, will definitely fit down the dipstick hole.

 

random thought if it feel way down in - remove the drain plug and pull it through the bottom of the differential?
