I just bought my first Subaru ('95 Legacy) in Eugene, OR. I'm currently on the other side of the planet (Iraq), and won't be able to start working on her for another 67 days.

She needs a lot of work done. CV halfshafts in the front need to be replaced, along with the driverside headlamp assembly, knock sensor, seatbelts, and shifter bushings.

I have a whole list of other things I plan on doing as well, to prevent future problems. If anyone has any advice, or would like to get together in a few months, let me know.

Welcome to the USMB and congrats on your first Subaru!

and Thank You for your service. Please come home safe!

depending on mileage, you may want to do a timing belt service on her as well as basic tuneup.

If she is AWD make sure your tires are all the same brand, style and of equal wear and pressure! the AWD system is a bit picky about that sort of thing.

There are lots of members out in that part of the country so when you do get home you should be able to find a few new friends as well to go along with your new (to you) Subaru.

I second heartless' sentiments, welcome aboard!

'95 Legacy--good car with a wonderful engine. For axles check out MWE (you can find them through CCR in Denver.) Shifter bushings can be a bit of a pain but definitely one of the most satisfying things you can do for driving happiness!

Get familiar with the "search" function up above--there's tons of great information archived on USMB. And when you get into it post questions in the new gen forum, lotsa' helpful people.

Good luck, take care and keep us up on your progress.

Welcome aboard! Good to see another 2nd Gen Legacy on the board! I am sure you will have a few questions about your ride when you get back and start working on it. Shoot on over here and ask away! Lots of knowledgable folks here!

Thanks! I've been looking through USMB for a few days now. I was surprised at how friendly everyone is. I'm definitely looking forward to getting my hands dirty...

She's AWD, with 207,000 miles. Her last owner worked at an auto shop, and took good care of her, but he didn't invest much so there is still a lot to do. I'll be driving her to Ocean shores in OCT to spend some time on the coast. If anyone is interested in a BBQ, I'll bring lots of drinks.

Welcome. Come home safe.

Lots of people on the 'site for info and help. I'm glad you found us.
