Greetings,

 

Does anybody know what the lubricant is in a CV joint.

I can't find any CV lubricant of any kind at any local parts store.

 

I want to lube up a possible noisy joint but a 12Oz. container at the dealer is like $30.00.

 

I know it's not a good idea to mix lubes so i'm reluctant to just use grease.

 

Any help appreciated.

Any type of Moly grease will work. Though parts stores usually stock pre measured packets of grease usually listed as CV Joint Grease. I've seen it on the shelf at Napa.

NAPA has a couple different kinds in a tube, just ask. They also sell the individual packets, but they're more expensive.

It's just black Moly grease. A tube should run about $4 or less.
