knock sensor ???s

Featured Replies

Could I use the knock sensor from the 90 ea82t with the harness and ecm in my 86 ?The old failed one has 2 wires and the new one has one.If anyone has a good engine diagram,or knows the answer, please help.Parts like this are stuipd expensive up here.

Or can I run with it disconnected,or jumped out so it sends no errant signal back?

thanks

well.. nope... going through the same thing myself.. the nwer style 87-94 ea82T knock sensors are different than the 85-86.. along with the distributor, maf, and ecu..

won't work.. sorry.. new 85-86' knock sensors here are $250 from the dealer and $125 from advance..

i got lucky and got one from a board member..

I will look later I may have one in my misc stuff. and yeah you can just ground the signal wire and it should eliminate the knock sensor input to the ecm. temporarily that is. its a safety device.

We mistakenly set the timing to13 deg btdc, instead of 25.I set it properly and now super roo roars!Gotta be careful now though,I cant keep from spinnng the tires off a green light!

Thanks all for helping a guy who was too dumb to check the simple things first. It turns out the repair on the knock sensor worked any way,Iwould have had a chek engine light if it didnt, apparently!
