  1. My 86 gl 10 turbo decided not to start this moring so I went through the usual steps and found that my fuel pump aint turning at start up.If I tune it with a hammer It will start and run fine, but I have to do this every time I start it. Whada you figure,on its way out or bad electrical connections that wont give it the juice to start pumping?
  2. it isnt getting out,its getting in the cylinder(s)when the engine is shut down,i think.
  3. How can I test my bad manifold gasket theory with out blowing any thing out?
  4. Coolant smell and rough running on start up,minor coolant loss, but it evens out after about a minute. It does not over heat or blow white when its warm,so I dont think its a head gasket and theres nothing on the ground where its parked, nothing leaking on the engine either
  5. will putting pepper in my cooling system plug what I suspect is a bad intake manifold gasket? EA 82 T-1990 how does this work, anyway?
  6. HOOPED! sounds like the clutch packs are shot, probably from poor oil change intervals!! too bad...
  7. are all the bolts out that hold teh torque convertor to the flexplate?
  8. look at the top of this page and click on www.ultimatesubaru.org and go into the trans section, you will find the write up there. Its sooooooo easy!and free.$50 for the car and no tranny to but and install, sweet!
  9. yeah,i know you dont care, but meet superdoo!
  10. clean up the trans governor, easy fix and its in the USRM.Just did mine today, it took 20 minutes:banana:
  11. how about one off a caterpillar C-15?Its about 3ftx4ft, 4 inch inlet and outlet, you could mount it on the hood! I make me laugh!
  12. just to make sure that subaru is the same as other cars,I should check ATF with car at warm idle,running,right?:-\
  13. i would lean towards roller bearings for durability, and the fact that you cam actually preload them, assuming that you are talking about normal single row caged ball bearings.Cup and cone ball bearings have the same advantage but less load bearing surface than rollers. So my foggy flu ridden mind says try to use tapered roller bearings.
  14. when its being good, superdoo, cause it doo's things and stuff super. when its not being good ,*&^%$^% *&^%$^%$ #@@!# &^%$$% (*&^#^ and ^%& up your #%$.IHAVE TOOLS.ICAN TAKE YOU APART!!!!!! Then its ok,except for the suspension ghost.I bring him candy and my car stays level!!!
  15. hmmmmm:-\ makes for interesting times at stoplights:brow:
  16. whe I pin it in my wagon,it pulls to the right but the steering wheel is still straight. Is it the drag in the rear diff pulling me that way or should I be checking something out?
  17. go as cheap as possible,Ive busted tons of trail lights, pricey and cheap. Light is light when youre off road, who cares about beam patterns?!
  18. if you have the engine out,do every thing you can short of rings and bearings,if the TRUE oil pressure and compressiontests tell you that these things are ok. Why take the engine out twice?
  19. blew my rad today, knew it was coming,so I did this: 1-new 2 row rad 2-second electric fan, second thermo switch(160 degreees) so,theres an extra port on the rad to put the thremo switch, which I did,so the first fan comes on at 160 and the second comes on at 180.OH yeah,I forgot the 160 degree thermostat. I do a lot of mountain driving so I thought id try this, and it works really good. Tried my hardest to overheat it or at least get close to the red,not a chance.Stayed dead certer the whole time with 3 people, two big dogs and three HEAVY mountain bikes on the back. Now if I could only gat rid of the ghost in my suspension system!
  20. can any one tell me how subaru id s thier wire colors on their diagrams in the fsm looks like L is blue so some of them might be screwy! The next step in solving the air ride experience!
