  1. mass airflow sensor,it comes off the air filter box and has a wire harness attached to it(measures intake air volume and signals fuel delivery rate accordingly) look at the aluminum pipe that says "turbo 4x4".On the under side in the middle you will see a 5/8 hose.Make sure both ends of it are attached to their respective fittings
  2. check the hose that comes from the bottom of the intake plenum(between the MAF and throttle body),its easy to knock off and not notice
  3. yeah,my idea is to pool our local and not so local resources on this side of the border.Bringing parts across the border is tougher these days than importing a mad cow!Washington and Oregon have all these parts and aftermarket resources as well as a huge pool of talented owners, some of that must trickle up here from time to time.Even the best mechanics Ive met up here get nervous around the older subes cause all theyre used to are legacies and imprezas, and people usually want them to be lower and faster(the nerve!)not higher and stronger.
  4. does it run? Its dark, wed. night ,not exactly a big action night for wash hiway patrol, turn the key and giver!what,45 miles to bellingham?Better yet get a "friend" to drive it ,after all you only spent a dollar on it:headbang:
  5. my bet is that the dolly is your problem. Some kid straightened and welded it?I smell a dog tracking problem.Oh yeah, make sure the steering wheel is LOCKED at straight ahead.Locking it is important, dont ask how I know.
  6. be nice and just give it a set of head gaskets to celebrate this milestone.thank me later!
  7. check the tire pressures on both vehhicles, especially the sube. how are you towing it?wheel dollies?are they on TIGHT?hard to tell by your post, but if the truck is lifted and you are towing any thing you WILL need a drop hitch, otherwise things get funky, not in a george clinton way,but a vanilla ice way!
  8. so should dig out the controller and give it a new ground wire,or the dash switch?
  9. actually, the most important thing I did was blast an dpolish the intake plenum and paint all but the top machined area wrx blue! good for at least 20 ft/lb of torque!
  10. lets see if we can get more than three people (of age) and go from there BTW wanted 14 or15" 4x140 rims preferably steel and in BC.
  11. where is the ground for the entire air ride system? I found that if I provide a ground for the system componrnts individually,I could get them to work(got the front end back up now) Maybe I found the failure that makes most people get rid of the air ride?
  12. does any one have a wiring diagram for the air ride sys for 1986,Icant figure out why its screwed.rump roast end up,front end down and the dash switch isnt doing anything but it tested out ok.Fuse is also good. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Maybe set up a local group of resources for older subes?Theres a few mechanics among us up here, and the more eyes in the wreckers the better!Out of towners could be especially helpful
  14. Qman,if I had a bad height sensor, wouldnt one strut be affected?BTW this happened after my dogs were in the back today(250 lbs)and I had done nothing to the car but drive it.I tried to dump the air bags but the switch did nothing, disconnected the switch and pulled the fuse, still nothing. Is there a relay set somewhere,my childrens book has next to no info on this system.Apparently we aint smart enough to work on them fancy air systems!
  15. just wondering, how does a lift work with the cv's?Longer shafts, different joint or what?
  16. set my new engine to 25 deg and it pings like a sum b&$#% whe I punch it.Its a 1990,with an 86 harness and ecm.Set it to 20deg?
  17. so now that my air ride is acting up,how can I convert to coil over AND run with the elevated ride height? Actually,I would like to ride as high as the cv's will alow without detonating throw the parts list at me ...............................now. thanks, speedBUmp
  18. weird, the rump roast end of my wagon is waaaay up in the air,the switch on the dash isnt doing anything and i havent heard th compressor kick in all day Experts, please guide me! (fuse is good and there is power at the compressor)
  19. pro/con I did it any ways. The pro side wins, acceleration is noticeably quicker with more power available in 3rd(3at) yippee!
  20. deeper oil pan = less clearance, but then again rock vs. oil pan will stop you from worrying about your oil getting too hot:D
