05 Legacy 2.5 GT Wagon

When adjusting the temperature for the A/C / Heat, the Driver and Passenger sides always operate completely separately. Every time I want to adjust, I have to adjust both sides individually which is a real PITA. On my 4Runner and any other car I have been in, the drivers side will operate both until the passenger is operated separately. Is there a way to tie them together or is there something I am missing.
