December 28, 201015 yr upon closer inspection of this clutch issue I discovered a good bit of oil inside the housing, could a leaky oil pan cause this , in which the clutch would become soaked and then slip.. the rear seal looks fine
December 28, 201015 yr EA81? i can't see clearly in the photo to tell what's wet and what is not. doesn't surprise me for old oil to sit there and collect dust/dirt/etc. seems it's often wet there - oil drips from anywhere on the engine and flies back while you're driving and hits that area. the rear main and clutch doesn't seem wet at all? i can't see any other way for oil to saturate the clutch except for the rear main or the rear separator (which it appears this engine doesn't have?).
December 28, 201015 yr Author its down at the bottom. i scraped some of it away. I just dont remeber having grime in there before
December 28, 201015 yr Author Itlooked OK which was weird. Of had so indications of slippage butuad good meatleft. Its really weird never had this much issue with a clutch before
December 29, 201015 yr Author O installed the engine everything went well. Now I'm going to replace my oilpan gasket just to be safe I don't want to do all this for nothing. Looked there was some caked oil there so. Hope she works out.
