Been thinkin about this build for a while

 

I have a Old Ford I got back when I was 14 its a 30 Ford Model A not much left of it, Im goin to take the windsheild and cowl and make a tub heres a model I mocked up

 

plan to have it up and runnin for the summer, not sure on a moter yet may not be a Subaru, could be the engine from my Dodge Dakota small V-6 we will see i wont be out much, plan on using stuff I have already

the frame will be reallly low, underslung the axles, the tub will not have doors just jump in over the side, be a fair weather rig no fenders , bare bones, no frills

 

got a 60 Lincoln too, its total rust, may use the rear light, fins and sheetmetal narrowed

I dont see how you will get any needed down travel on the solid axle when its "on top" of the frame rail. Thats going to be noisy as all heck when the axle shaft hits the frame all the time.

The frame travels down not the axle, although you are right, unless he moves the axle up further he'll have some wicked clanging when the axle and frame hit.
