Contemplating new summer project

So i've been thinking of what the new car should be. i'm thinking of a 93+ imprezza. however i need to find a few things out. Will a ej22t bolt into a 5spd car that came with a 1.8? i know i'd have to change the ecu, but anything other than that? thanks, and if anybody has an imprezza they feel the need to get rid of cheap, i'd be glad to take it off your hands :D

I posted the same basic query a few days ago. Apparently there is an article in Sport Compact magazine that covers installation of the EJ20T in any Impreza, which would basically be the same as putting in the EJ22T.

As far as I know, everything will bolt up. I am planning on getting a wrecked legacy turbo car to grab everything off of when I get around to doing this, since I'm sure there are a bunch of little things that need to be swapped. The wiring harness is probably a bit different but may be the same, the exhaust might take some work to fit like on the EA-series turbo vs. non-turbo cars, and the clutch might be beefier. I'm just guessing on all of those though, and if anybody could clear that up, it would be great.

I think that would be an awesome car if everything was set up right. The impreza is no slowpoke with the n/a 2.2. I can't imagine what it would do with a tweaked out turbo 2.2 putting down 250-300 horsepower, but I know it would be fun:D .
