Code came up for the third time for Idle Air Control Valve, seems to be an intermittent problem, but I have noticed almost a gurgling sputter for some time, off and on, anyway.

 

So I have read some posts about cleaning this valve, ultimately replacing... any ideas?

 

Idle seems to be jumping and racing at a stoplight... vibration is a bit much.

 

Any ideas, part is around $350... or junk yard??

Not sure if the design changed for your car, but on my '95 (EJ22) I found it best to remove the IACV from the engine to give it a thorough cleaning.

Also clean or replace the hoses leading to and from it and use a new gasket.

 

If that doesn't work I'd look for a used one.

I have the luxury of having used ones around.

 

But if you clean it it may need to be adjusted (if I remember correctly) which may be an inconvenience. I don't know how well marking it before dis-assembly would work.
