May 9, 201114 yr Howdy, I just finished doing my t-belt kit install including new seals on main shaft, camshafts and oil pump, new water pump, and oil change. I got rid of a few trouble codes by doing that, but now, I have two new ones! I have a 1992 Loyale SPFI btw. So, I read the codes as 12 and 34. I looked them up and found that the codes are starter switch constantly on or off and EGR solenoid constantly on or off. So, are these a big deal? Any help or quick solutions would be awesome! thanks.
May 9, 201114 yr what running/driving issues do you have? the EGR code isn't a big deal as long as it drives fine. they typically don't cause drivability issues. you can try cleaning the EGR and making sure there are no leaks/hoses/lines are properly hooked up.
May 9, 201114 yr hi, there is a good chance that your egr solinoid has a broken vac hose nipple, it's real common. they are real easy to break the hose connection off, look for a small square metal box thingy with vac hoses and a 2 wire connector, usually mounted on the backside of the intake manifold. usually there are 2 of them 1 is egr solinoid and 1 is purge solinoid. there are some posts about how to cheat the ecm and block the hoses or if you can find one , replace it.
May 10, 201114 yr My EGR solenoid went and my fuel consumption was garbage! I pulled another one off at the autowrecker and replaced it helped lots. Ide just replace it if you can find one easily.
May 10, 201114 yr Author I think I may have found the issue. My "header" studs are actually stripped all the way around. Somehow they are still jammed in there and holding the exhaust in place, but not tight making an insane exhaust leak and an incredible ruckus. So, once I fix that, I will see if my EGR code is still there.
May 10, 201114 yr The troubles are most likely due to a wiring problem to the EGR solenoid. It is the circuit wiring the ECU monitors. Make sure the connection to the solenoid is ok. If you get 12 volts to that point then check the resistance of the solenoid coil. It may be open.
