My wifes 02 forester is currently having problems releasing the shiflock when the brake is pressed. I can feel it attempting to engage when my hand is on the shifter but it takes about 5minutes for it to go after several attempts. Any ideas? fuse is good based on it attempting to go. First auto we've owned in several years, now i know why i like manuals so much. My 93 lego warwagon has never had this shiz happen, but of course, its a 5spd.

I had that problem once when the neutral position sensor was bad.
