MPFI -> Webber

Featured Replies

EA-82 MPFI in an 86 XT-GL to an EA-82 carb? Is this possible and would it yeild any increases in performance?

It would sure as hell look nice with an aluminum spoiler in the back, a Hilborn-style scoop on top, and side-exit glasspacks :D

you would loose performance, and have alot of new stupid problems to deal with. no way a weber is better than mpfi, anybody that disagrees is just in denial because they spent too much on the weber, or cant face the fact that mpfi rules!

Any way to get a functional, Hilborn-esque scoop to work with an MPFI intake? I really LOOOOOVE the look

heh, you could always mount your maf sensor right on top of th thotle body, upside down, then stick the filter under the scoop. that would probably work pretty good. thanks for the idea.

And run some flexible piping between the intake duct and the MAF?

I was just drooling over the idea of a hot-rod XT :D

So anyway... what's the most I could get out of a carbed EA-82? If I could pull between 170 and 200 out of it with a turbo or a super, it would be worth it just to have the hot-rod look

good luck finding an adapter to put a carb on the mpfi intake.

your best bet is to just thrpw in a carb motor, witha carb, single port intake, as mpfi is dual ports.

its only worth it if say you had trouble with mpfi to begin with

unless you can be REALLY creative, and put some steep cams and some four-barrel.....

here is an example of a modernesque, and shaker style hood scoop/filter for MPFI/turbo
