another 95 legacy radio problem

Featured Replies

I saw an earlier post on a 95 Legacy radio- MINE stopped working just after I bought (ebay) a new CD player to replace the old non working one. Radio was fine until just after I took out the old CD player -it was fine at first, but 2 days later- it completely stopped functioning. No clock display, no cassette. DEAD. I checked fuses under hood and the radio fuse under dash. Good. Checked the plug with all the wires at the back of the radio - the power to the radio is fine, as well as the ground wire. Now its getting expensive to buy a new radio TOO - and the frustration is killing me - can't figure out why the radio suddenly failed with no sign of any problem inside. Is there an internal fuse in the radio I didn't find? Can anybody help?

What head unit did you buy? An aftermarket unit or another Subaru player?

i would assume you got another bad radio.

can you test by installing your old radio? i've got some subaru cassette stereo's that should plug and play i can send for $20

I got a JVC tape deck unit I can mail for the same price.

I didn't replace the head unit - I replaced the CD player that plugs into the head unit - which is a radio/cassette player. The cd player I bought is a Subaru model exactly like the old one that went bad. I never got a chance to use it because the radio/cassete head unit went bad mysteriously just after I removed the old cd player.

The Subaru cassette stereo you have - it is functioning and has the round multi plug for a cd player in the back?
