XT FT4wd tranny swap

Featured Replies

ok im intrested in doing this, i hate having d/r 4X4 tranny, i want the true subaru full time 4wd settup.

now i can get a 5sp XT ranny for VERY cheap, but firt how do i know if it is FT4wd?

and if i do get it and it is AWD, what do i need to also get to put it into my 86 GL wagon, my wagon is a 5sp car.

thanks for any help, i tried search, but really didn't find what i was looking for.

I seriously doubt it's a FT4WD if it's from an XT 4cyl. Those were the FT4WD XT Turbos that were only made in the 87.5 model year...

I'd be more than willing to say if it's a 5spd XT 4WD tranny it's probly a pushbutton.

you will know its FT4WD, IF...you put the trans in gear, turn the input shaft, and all three outputs go...and IF you can stop the front two, and the rear still turns. I went thru this same thing.

I have one of those XT FT4WD trans in my GL-10. Same gearing as the RX in Hi.
