Backfire problem solved....

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I spent a grueling 2 hours in the sun today...just to properly fasten a few clamps on my Subaru's air intake system. One of the clamps was very loose...

Well, now the engine runs much more smoothly and the backfire problem I previously alluded to has pretty much been eliminated completely.

So the moral here is ----> a properly aspirated Subaru is key to its smooth operation.

(But you experts already knew that....right?)

It is always very satisfying to solve your own Subie problems. Congrats!

You might also run a smoke test to find any other leaks, but you probably licked it. I just ran a smoke test and it found three vacuum leaks! 2 just needed a clamp and one needed a new gasket. Bang and done.

I found one more hose that was not properly fastened...so that should about do it. Now it hardly backfires at all...(esp. now that I got the clutch...uh...adjusted).
