EA81 heads

Featured Replies

OK I've searched, and I've looked at my digital FSM till I'm cross eyed. Wish my paper FSM would arrive. This question arises from buying a basket case car which you have never owned an example of . One of my heads has a tapped hole which the other one does't have. Is that the right (1 & 3) head or the left (2 & 4)? Feel free to flame away or point out obvious stuff I have missed :-\

Notice the title of the thread. It's an EA81 in a 1987 brat.

Do you mean the tapped thread at the front of the head, then it is for power steer bracket and looking at the engine from in front of the car is on your left.

The other option if it is underneath like an EA 82 it may be for an EGR pipe and should have a matching fitting on the exhaust, not all countries use the same style components and in most countries we now have imported engines to add to the confusion.

From your answer, it looks like I have the head on the wrong side. I'm glad I checked before making anything permanent.

Thanks Bill

hi, that hole with the screwdriver is the EGR pipe hole , it goes on the passenger side ® side of the engine . i see you don't have it mounted yet, put it on the other side.
