September 8, 201114 yr its a limited slip. i think the clutches in it might be wore out cause i replaced the oil in it and put in a whole bottle of the additive, and it still clunks a little when i take corners from a dead stop. how hard are they to take out; apart, and get parts for? September 11, 201114 yr Author nothing; nothing at all??? im pretty sure someone on here knows something about this. or has no one ever rebuilt a limited slip diff yet? if not, i'll tear into it at some point and do a write up.
September 12, 201114 yr If you're hearing clunking while turning in a car park I think you'll find that that's the pretension releasing as it should. Not pleasant but that's the way it is when you have them wound up tight! How long have you had the subi for and do you know the history of the diff? It's not hard to pull them apart and shim the springs for extra tension on the plates - and if the plates are super worn you'll need new ones. Cheers Bennie

Cheers Bennie well, if doing it a little is normal, than thanks for the info. its been continuing to make noise here and there when turning and taking off from a dead stop. plus, the oil in it keeps getting dirty quick. i've replaced the oil twice in the last 5000 miles.

If the oil's getting dirty that quick I'd suggest you pull it and take a look at the internals. That doesn't sound right to me. CVs in good condition? Cheers Bennie
